Validation process for students

About Validation

Every semester, students taking any on-campus courses are required to complete Validation. This process includes verifying your personal information and viewing required notices from the institution.

Until you have complete Validation, you will not have access to some important services on-campus, including access to meal plans and residence halls.

The Validation Process

Validation begins automatically for all students registered in at least one on-campus course two weeks prior to the start of each semester.

When Validation starts, you will be assigned a series of tasks in myMillikin to complete. You will receive an email to your school email account and a notification in myMillikin for each task that you will need to complete. You can complete them in any order.

Please read through and complete all the Validation tasks. If you have any questions about the tasks, you can reach out to the office associated with the task. That will be given to you in either the task itself or you can reply to the original email that you were sent when you were assigned the task.

When you log into myMillikin, the Task window will open for you if you have any outstanding tasks to be completed (including Validation tasks). You can always close the Task window and return to it later to complete your tasks.

When all your tasks are completed, you will need to wait up to 15 minutes for the system to acknowledge your completion. This will take longer if you complete your tasks between 12:00am and 6:00am. You will have an announcement show at the top of the page in myMillikin for up to seven days to remind you that you have completed Validation.

After Validation has been marked as completed in can take up to 24 hours for all your services to be available.

Viewing Completed Validation Tasks

You can always view any of your completed tasks and reference their content at any time in myMillikin. Click on the Tasks view, then on the “All Tasks” icon image-20260108-215814.png, and then change your filters to “Completed”.

Validation FAQ

Here are some commonly asked questions and their answers about Validation

Validation starts two weeks before the first day of the Fall and Spring semester or when you register for classes, whichever comes latest.

For example, if you register in June for the Fall, you will start Validation two weeks prior to the start of the Fall term. If you register the week before the Fall term, you will start Validation that day.

No, Validation is an automated process that starts for you. You do not start the process yourself.

In the legacy myMillikin, Validation was started by the student, and you could start it at any point. Now Validation starts for you and doesn’t require you to do an action to know what tasks you need to complete.

Validation is required, so the only way it ends is for you to complete your Validation steps.

It can take up to 24 hours for access to the DISC to be enabled after Validation has been completed. Information is sent to the DISC once a day.
