Wireless

Millikin provides an extensive wireless network for students, faculty, staff, and guests of the university.

Networks and availability

There are two primary wireless networks available on Millikin's campus.  These networks both use WPA2 Enterprise security, with AES encryption.  Wireless devices will need to support these security settings in order to connect to Millikin's wireless networks.

MU-RESNET is available for students all across campus, including academic buildings and residence halls.

MU-ADMIN is available for faculty and administrative staff.  This network is only provided in academic buildings.

Additional networks

There are also some open, unsecured networks available for Millikin's community:

  • MU-STALEY is available in Staley Library
  • MU-BIGBLUE is available in the football field and the Griswold gymnasium
  • MU-GARDEN is available in the Millikin Garden, next to the Alumni & Development Center

When connecting to an unsecured wireless network, your network traffic is not encrypted, and it's easier for other people to see. Use caution when connected to an unsecured network, and don't use open networks like these for confidential purposes like online shopping or banking.

Guest access

Parents, friends, and guests of the university can access the MU-RESNET wireless network using guest credentials.  Your Millikin contact (student, staff, faculty, etc.) can provide a username and password to you.

If you are a Millikin student, faculty, or staff member, you can access these guest credentials through myMILLIKIN, under the "Tools" menu.  Look for the "Guest Wireless" portlet, pictured below.  This will provide a username and password, along with an indicator of when the password will expire.

Google Pixel Users

When connecting to any of the wireless networks for the first time, please enter Millikin.Edu in the "Domain" field. The username must also be your full Millikin email address.
