This is a basic overview of how to operate the classroom audio visual technology equipment present in most classrooms.

Step-by-step guide

How To Use Classroom Technology

Most classrooms use a Extron Electronics controller unit to operate most of the classroom A/V technology.  These controllers have buttons on them that allow you to do the following.

  • Turn projector or display on and off
  • Change inputs between PC, Laptop, DVD, VCR, Doc Cam, etc.
  • Control volume
  • Mute audio and video
  • Raise and lower screen (in classrooms equipped with electric screens)

For classrooms on campus that have a display such as a projector or monitor, but do not have the Extron Electronics controller available.  A remote will be present to turn on display and select the source you are using.

If you have any questions about classroom technology or need assistance please feel free to email media@millikin.edu or call Media Services at 217-424-6238.
