How to access your Millikin email from your iPhone or iPad

(info) If you already have a Millikin email account set up on your mobile device(s), follow the instructions to remove the old email account first, and then add the new account. Otherwise, simply skip to adding the new account.

Remove the Old Email Account from iPhone and iPad

  1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Tap the original millikin.edu email account.
  3. Tap Delete Account and confirm the deletion by clicking Delete again.

Setup the new Office 365 Email account on iPhone and iPad

  1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account.
  2. Tap Microsoft Exchange.
  3. You won’t need to type anything in the Domain box. Type the information requested in the Email, Username, and Password boxes. You need to type your full email address in both the Email and Username boxes (for example, jsmith@millikin.edu).  The password is the same password you entered for Office 365 online.
  4. All email logins on the new email system are @millikin.edu  not @mail.millikin.edu
  5. Tap Next on the upper-right corner of the screen. Your mail program will try to find the settings it needs to set up your account. Go to step 7, if your mail program finds your settings automatically.
  6. If your iPhone can’t find your settings, you’ll need to enter outlook.office365.com for your server name.
  7. In the Server box, enter your server name, and then tap Next.
  8. Choose the type of information you want to synchronize between your account and your device, and then touch Save. By default, Mail, Contacts, and Calendar information are synchronized.

Setting Office 365 as your default calendar and contacts on iPhone and iPad

(info) If you do not wish to use your Millikin Office 365 account to manage your calendar, you can skip this step.  For instance, if you prefer to use another account or icloud to manage your calendar, you do not need to setup Office 365 as your default calendar.

Apple iCloud can be set as the default calendar and contacts accidentally, especially during an upgrade.  This setting results in creating appointments or contacts on your phone that do not show up in Outlook.  To resolve this for future appointments, set Office 365 as your default calendar and contacts.

  1. On the iPhone, go to the Settings app.
  2. Go to the Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings.
  3. Scroll pretty far down the list to the Calendars section.
  4. One of the items there is the Default Calendar.
  5. Tap that and pick the Office 365 calendar as the default.
  • Also, do the same to set your default contacts to be Office 365.
  • Now when you create a new appointment, it is created on the Office 365 calendar and automatically synced to all your devices and Outlook.
